About AICareerSwap

AICareerSwap exists because most AI job risk tools stop at the scary number. They tell you your job has a 78% automation risk and leave you terrified with no plan. We think that is irresponsible.

We built this tool to go further: honest risk assessment, concrete career transitions based on your transferable skills, salary comparisons, and practical retraining pathways. Not vague advice to "learn new skills." Specific actions you can take today.

Methodology

AI Risk Scores

Our risk scores combine multiple data sources into a single 0-100 score:

  • 40%Task automation analysis - which specific tasks within each occupation can AI currently perform, based on O*NET task statements and AI capability assessments
  • 25%AI capability trajectory - how quickly AI is improving in the skills required for each role, drawing on the Felten AIOE dataset and OpenAI exposure research
  • 20%Economic incentives - the cost-benefit of replacing human workers in each role, considering salary levels, error tolerance, and regulatory constraints
  • 15%Real-world evidence - actual job market data showing displacement (BLS job postings, ONS employment statistics, industry reports)

Skills Matching

Career transition recommendations use O*NET's skills taxonomy (35 skills, 33 knowledge areas, 52 abilities per occupation). We calculate skill overlap between your current role and potential target roles, identify gaps, and map those gaps to training pathways.

Salary Data

UK salaries come from the ONS Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE). US salaries come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS). All figures are median annual salary for full-time workers.
